Cornelis de Bruin (1870-1940) - Amsterdam School Fireplace Screen

Large and very decorative oak fireplace screen with coromandel and blackened wooden accents, the centre panel is a painted canvas by the well-known artist Cornelis de Bruin, circa 1920. Cornelis de Bruin (1870-1940) was a Dutch painter, ceramist, painter, pottery painter, designer, illustrator, graphic artist, lithographer and draughtsman. The painting depicts a wood collector, framed in a beautiful whimsical Amsterdam School pattern. Signed in the lower left: Corns de Bruin ft ( "ft" - "fecit"- "has made") . Dimensions: 100 x 85 x 15 cm Cornelis de Bruin: Educated at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, thaught by, among others, August Allebé. De Bruin also worked as a pottery painter and designer at Plateelfabriek De Distel (Amsterdam) , Dordtsche Kunstpotterij (DKP) and Plateelbakkerij Delft (PBD) . In addition, he has made designs for Tuschinsky, the Synagogue in the Linnaeusstraat as well as the Masonic lodge in Amsterdam. This lot has to be picked up.
