Corpus Christi - Lacquer, Wood - End of XVI century XVII

Carved and lacquered polychrome wooden sculpture, depicting the crucified Christ. A work of great quality and expressive power. On the head it has the nimbus, or halo, in the shape of a "cross", which is often used in the Spanish area. Also the facial features and the large amount of blood from the wounds make us think that the artefact was produced in that area, in the mannerist period. In good condition despite the shortcomings in the skin and some missing parts on the hands, which do not affect the beauty of the work. The subsequent repainting and gilding carried out on the work have been dry cleaned; the sculpture was treated in our restoration laboratory with anti-woodworm treatment, consolidating agents and wax finish.
