Tukula box Baquba / Cuba Congo 18 cm Hard wood, very light and dry Shiny, partly crusty patina Traces of redwood powder provenance Collected by Boris Kegel-Konietzko and Lore Kegel in the 50s Formerly the Kegel-Konietzko collection Boris Kegel-Konietzko was born in 1926 to the research traveler and art dealer Julius Konietzko and his wife Lore, who later became Lore Kegel. From 1955 he undertook research trips to the Congo, during which he acquired ethnological objects for the art store "Lore Kegel - Exotic Art" founded by his mother in 1935. From 1956 to 1958 he took over the management of the zoological garden in Brazzaville in the French colony of Equatorial Africa. Boris Kegel-Konietzko has been the sole owner of the "Boris Kegel-Konietzko Ethnographica" company since 1964. In addition to the sales activities in the domestic gallery, Kegel-Konietzko continues to supply museums, collectors and dealers in Europe and the USA with high-quality African tribal art.
