Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Guanacaste/Nicoya region, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A beautiful pendant of a squat form, hand-carved from mottled sage-green jadeite with dark-green inclusions and white streaks. The pendant features a celt-form lower body with smooth blade faces, a bulbous upper body, and an abstract anthropomorphic head with protruding lips and a crested brow. A biconically-drilled suspension hole is situated through the back, and the piece exhibits a smooth, meticulously polished surface texture. Size: 0.9" W x 2.1" H (2.3 cm x 5.3 cm).
