Timothy Leary's signed and annotated copy of his and Ralph Metzner's program for their Psychedelic Sessions, a 12-city tour held in the fall and winter of 1965-66. By 1963 the Federal Government had restricted the use and experimentation of psychedelic drugs to mental health facilities. Leary and Metzger in response, sought to "produce a psychedelic or ecstatic experience without using drugs." They organized 10-hour group sessions with the aim to "reproduce and induce the LSD experience" with the utilization of numerous Eastern and Western psychedelic methods, including meditation, centering, breathing, sensory withdrawl, as well as psychodrama, Gestalt therapy, and multi-media stimulation.
