CHRISTOFLE Art Deco Sterling
Art Deco cutlery in 925 sterling silver, 48 pieces for 12 people, Christofle-Paris, design by Maison Cardeilhac, model "COMMODORE", Made in France, dishwasher safe

Consisting of:

- 12 table knives, length: 245 mm

- 12 table forks, 215 mm

- 12 table spoons, 210 mm

- 12 coffee spoons, 135 mm

Christofle silverware combines luxury and the spirit of the times like no other. The Parisian luxury products are based on an unconditional desire for innovation while maintaining the highest quality.

The COMMODORE model was included in the Christofle catalogue in 1951 and presented by the Christofle-Paris company at the Triennale in Milan. It is part of the Cardeilhac collection. The Cardeilhac company was bought by Christofle in 1950 and cutlery items from their collections were stamped with "Cardeilhac" until around 1985. After that, the stamping was changed to "Christofle". Cardeilhac still belongs to Christofle today and manufactures all the items.

The model is typical of the revival of Art Deco. Representative size and understated ornamentation have given this cutlery model the makings of a classic. Its simple, clear lines are highlighted by the bar motif at the base of the bowl. The same pattern, also at the bottom of the handle, but smaller, gives the design balance. This is a very elegant sterling silver cutlery that fits well in the hand and is a real pleasure to eat with.

Christofle COMMODORE has knives with a hollow handle and blades made of special steel that are significantly sharper than blades made of simple chrome steel. The high-quality hollow-handle knives are always made up of two parts.

The cutlery is highly polished and has the most needed additional parts.

The cutlery on offer costs around 13,000 euros in retail, but I am offering it used here for 8,000 euros. The cutlery has a total weight of 3. 8 kg. It is no longer produced in solid sterling silver, which makes it a rarity.

You can still purchase additional items such as dessert, fish or serving cutlery in silver-plated form in stores with a restocking guarantee until 2032.

Please refer to the photos for the condition. The cutlery is in good and well-maintained condition, used with a few signs of wear and tear, cleaning or storage consistent with age and use. All markings and hallmarks are present.
