Cowboys! Autry, Rogers, Moore, Hart, Hale & Evans! A Fine Collection!
Archive
Outstanding collection of five glossy photographs, including two in color, each signed in felt tip by a celebrated star of the American Western. The collection features John Hart in costume as the Lone Ranger; Monte Hale in a classic Western portrait; Clayton Moore astride Silver as the Lone Ranger, inscribed "Kindest regards"; Gene Autry pictured on horseback; and Roy Rogers with Dale Evans, signed by both stars. Several photographs include personalized inscriptions in addition to the signatures. Together, the images present an evocative gathering of performers closely associated with the golden age of Western film and television, from masked heroes and singing cowboys to two of the genre's most beloved screen partners. In fine condition. Accompanied by an RR Certificate covering all the items. Each photograph measures 8 x 10 inches.
These performers helped make the Western one of the defining genres of twentieth-century American popular entertainment. Gene Autry, known as the "Singing Cowboy," became a major star through motion pictures, recordings, radio, and television, while Roy Rogers, often billed as the "King of the Cowboys," and Dale Evans formed one of the most recognizable husband-and-wife partnerships in Western entertainment. Clayton Moore became inseparably associated with the Lone Ranger through the enormously popular television series, with John Hart briefly assuming the role during the show's run. Monte Hale likewise became a familiar figure in postwar Western films and later television. Collectively, these signed photographs preserve the personalities behind an era when the Western hero occupied a central place in American movies, television, and popular culture.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
