The oldest of the three new Craigellachie bottlings is truly the showpiece of the series. A lush and complex dram that shows the very best of this distillery. The whiskey matured completely in American oak barrels and was bottled un-chill filtered. Owner John Dewar & Sons goes completely against the trend with these bottlings. Where No Age Statement is becoming increasingly common, they come up with a series of new bottlings, all of which bear an age indication. In addition to Craigellachie, Aberfeldy, Aultmore, Macduff and Royal Brackla are also part of the program, called The Last Great Malts. Color: deep gold. Nose: refined and elegant, fruity aromas of green apples, melon and citrus fruit, floral notes of roses and moss, fresh spiciness and toasted oak. Taste: full and rich, with a beautiful balance between fresh tones and sweetness.
