Crime of Cuba Walker Evans Carleton Beals Fourth Print

[ translate ]

Crime of Cuba Walker Evans Carleton Beals Fourth Print. This is a fourth printing of The Crime of Cuba by Carleton Beals, featuring 31 aquatone illustrations from photographs by Walker Evans. Interestingly enough, it has a third printing dust jacket, printed with a photograph by Walker Evans. Book is hardcover with black cloth covered boards, and deckle cut edges. What appears to be a newspaper clipping folded inside the book reads, "Beals wrote a fervent expose of American complicity with the practices of the oppressive Machado regime; Evans captured more of the formal beauty of Havana." An uncommon find with an even rarer intact dust jacket. From the collection of filmmaker and artist Sedat Pakay. Publisher: J.B. Lippincott Company Date published: 1934 Dimensions: 9 in h x 6 in w x 2 in d. Condition is fair to good. There is heavy wear to the dust jacket, and to the cloth binding. There is discoloration to the edges of the pages. However, the pages are clean, and generally in good condition. Please call or email for a detailed condition report.
