ATTENTION -- MUSEUM QUALITY ---- This is a pair of very realistic and three dimensional Jimbacrinus bostocki crinoid fossils from Western Australia. These extraterrestrial-looking crinoids are in exceptional condition. They are well prepared and stand out in high relief against the rock. Crinoids, sometimes commonly called sea lilies, are animals, not plants. They are echinoderms related to starfish, sea urchins, and brittle stars. Many crinoid features are like other members of its phylum; such features include tubular feet, radial symmetry, a vascular water system, and appendages in multiples of five (pentameral) . They first appeared in the Ordovician (488 million years ago) and some species are still alive today.
