Spoon with the Effigy of a Horseman Tabwa culture, Angola. First half of the 20th century. Wood. Height: 25. 5 cm; Width: 4 cm; Depth: 1. 5 cm. Sold with a stand. Elegant ceremonial spoon with the effigy of a rider, wearing a hat. The bowl is in the form of a drop. The handle is thin and circular, flaring on the top part. In ends into a circular base on which is carved the figure. Oriented to the left, the horse and the rider are finely carved. The incised details of the eyes and mouth reveal the preciousness of the utensil. The man is holding the reins of his harnessed horse. Wonderful shiny patina. Provenance: Former collection of Mister Laprugne.
