Cycles Decauville. ca. 1895.
Choubrac, an artist best known for his humor, bold color choices, and whimsical flights of fancy, turns his considerable talents to creating a nearly operatic vision of Decauville bicycles. Two laborers, dramatically lit by the inferno of the forge behind them, gaze in awe at the Decauville, appearing almost unwilling to accept the part they played in creating this perfect machine born of fire. It’s an inspired treatment of an everyday mechanism.

Condition: B+/ Unobtrusive folds.
Printer: Imp. Lemercier, Paris
