Cypriot - Cypro-geometric amphora with painted decoration - 1200/900 BC
Amphora with handles with painted decoration from the Geometric period, Cyprus.
Amphora 42 cm high and 38 cm wide, the diameter of the mouth being 20 cm. It is characterized by its wide cylindrical neck with round opening, slightly flared; its lip forms a flat surface on its upper part and its edge extends outwards. The biconvex body has two round, horizontal handles, straightened on the shoulder; the bottom is annular.
The decor is monochrome, dark brown. The interior of the amphora is decorated with a brown band which highlights the internal part of the lip, while a brown band runs along the flat surface.
