Cypriot Pottery Flask w/ Circular Motif

Ancient Greece, Cyprus, ca. 800 BCE. A hand-built pottery flask of compressed form with a circular body, a carinated lateral periphery, and a pair of arched handles flanking the slender neck and flared rim. Atop the beige- and light-orange-hued body are dark red-orange concentric circles typically observed on Cypriot pottery vessels. This vessel was manufactured in Cyprus for export to the Holy Land and is known as a target flask or a pilgrim's flask. Size: 4.9" W x 6.6" H (12.4 cm x 16.8 cm)

Condition Report: Abrasions, nicks, a few spalls, light encrustations, and fading to pigment, otherwise intact and very good. Concentric circle motifs on body are still relatively visible.
