The remarkable original sheen beautifully highlights the extensive embossing work on the illustration and lettering.
On the surface, there are very faint traces of the original protective paper sheet.
A few minor irregularities in flatness along the edges.
A specimen that has remained in excellent condition—
Set against an elegant green background, the design is immediately recognizable, centered around a tricolor target-shaped badge.
At its center stands the brand’s famous emblem: a white dove, inspired by the coat of arms of the city of Colombes, carrying in its beak a star bearing the initials “SC.”
Founded in 1909 by Maurice Danset through the merger of Huiles Minérales de Colombes (established in 1865) and Lille et Bonnières (established in 1877).
In addition to its engine lubricants, the company made its mark on the history of the automobile and the nascent aviation industry by creating the famous, cutting-edge fuel STELLINE (“little star” in Latin), whose star emblem would later serve as the basis for the creation of the Total gas station network.
With its factories in Bonnières-sur-Seine and Saint-Denis, the brand ceased its direct industrial operations in 1961.
