D-GUARD BOWIE KNIFE OF THE CIVIL WAR ERA.
A classic Civil War Era bowie knife measuring 29" overall with a long slender 23 1/2" forged blade. The blade tapers gently from 1 1/2" to the point of the blade and the pronounced ricasso measures 1" x 1/2". The iron d-guard terminates with a small disk quillon. Wood grip with a brass 3 1/4" x 1/2" plate on one side secured by two iron rivets. No scabbard. CONDITION: generall light wear. The blade has a dark patina as does the guard. There are just a scant few tiny nicks on the edge of the blade. The grip has a few tight age cracks. Brass plate has a great rich patina. (02-27596/BF). $1600-2200.
