Né au Monténégro en 1933, Miodrag Đurić dit Dado (surnom donné par sa mère) grandit dans un contexte d'instabilité politique et familiale. A partir de 43, l'Allemagne nazie occupe ce territoire qui devient le théâtre de violences, de tortures et d'exécutions. Témoin de ces scènes, Dado en garda le traumatisme, ce qui nourrira sa production artistique. L'année suivante, suite au décès de sa mère, Dado est recueilli et élevé par son oncle peintre. Il suit une formation à l'école des Beaux-Arts de Hercegovni et de Belgrade où il rencontra Marco Celebonovic. Ce dernier l'encourage et l'aide à partir à Paris. Dado arrive en France en 1956 et devient l'assistant lithographe de Gérard Patris. Il se lie également avec Jean Dubuffet qui lui présenta Daniel Cordier qui devint son marchand officiel. Ce dernier lui offre sa première exposition personnelle en 1960. Dans les années qui suivirent, Dado travailla avec André François-Petit, Isy Brachot, Jeanne Bucher ou encore Pierre Nahon. Son succès dépasse les frontières françaises et expose à New York et dans plusieurs villes européennes. En 1970, Le Centre National d'Art Contemporain organise sa première rétrospective et en 1991, Cetinje, sa ville de sa naissance, accueille un musée entièrement dédié à l'artiste. Aujourd'hui, l' Œuvre de Dado est présente dans les plus grandes collections muséales dans le monde.

Born in Montenegro in 1933, Miodrag Đurić known as Dado (nickname given by his mother) grew up in a context of political and familial instability. As of 1943, Nazi Germany occupied the territory, which became the theater of violence, torture and executions. As a witness to these scenes, Dado was scarred for life, a trauma which left its mark on his artistic production. The following year, after the death of his mother, Dado was taken in and raised by his uncle, a painter. He trained at the School of Fine Arts in Hercegovina and Belgrade where he met Marco Celebonovic. The latter encouraged him and helped him leave for Paris. Dado arrived in France in 1956, and became assistant lithographer to Gérard Patris. He also met Jean Dubuffet who introduced him to his future official dealer Daniel Cordier who offered him his first solo exhibition in 1960. In the following years, Dado worked with André François-Petit, Isy Brachot, Jeanne Bucher as well as Pierre Nahon. His fame traveled beyond the French borders with exhibitions in New York and several European cities. In 1970, the Centre National d'Art Contemporain, Paris, organized his first retrospective exhibition and in 1991, Cetinje, his birth town, opened a museum entirely dedicated to the artist. Today, Dado's Oeuvre can be found throughout the world in the most important museum collections.
