DAME LUCIE RIE | VASE WITH FLUTED BODY AND FLARING LIP

[ translate ]

DAME LUCIE RIE
1902-1995
VASE WITH FLUTED BODY AND FLARING LIP

impressed with Artist's seal
stoneware with an all-over glossy white/grey glaze
height: 21cm.; 8½in.
Executed circa the early 1980s.

Condition Report:
It is obvious that the flaring rim of the vase has split during the firing process, and the artist has infilled the splits occurring on both sides and re-fired the piece. This work has been carried out by the artist, in the process of manufacture and is visible upon close inspection to the piece, most noticeably to the underside of the flaring rim.

Elsewhere there are some minor instances of glaze imperfection visible upon very close inspection, but this excepting the work appears in good overall condition.

Ultraviolet light reveals the aforementioned areas of artist's restoration.
