D'ANNUNZIO GABRIELE: (1863-1938) Italian poet & playwright. An affectionate A.L.S., Gabriel, one page, 4to, n.p., 22nd September 1909, to [Maria Votruba] (´Cara sirocchia´), in Italian. D´Annunzio writes, in full, ´La tua presenza mi ha lasciato molta malinconia. Sei stata cosi dolce per me! Ti vedo scendere dalla terraza per la piccola scala, verso la mia tavola. A rivederci! Mandami spesso una parola fraterna´ (Translation: ´Your presence has left me feeling very wistful. You were so kind to me! I can picture you coming down from the terrace via the little staircase, towards my table. See you soon! Do send me a friendly word from time to time´). Some light age wear, about VG
