DASTANI, NYEDI (Cabo Delgado / Mozambique 1935-2005 Dar es Salaam / Tanzania), sculpture: "Standing", wood, carved and mounted on an ebonized pedestal, signed "Dastani" on the stand. Characteristic, stylized work by the artist in the so-called Nyamnezi style with influences of Giacometti and traditional ancestor figures of the Makonde / Tanzania. Dastani is considered an important innovator of Makonde art. Works by the artist have been exhibited in Paris at the Musée National des Arts d'Afrique et d'Océanie, among others. H. 46 cm. Charakteristische, stilisierte Arbeit des Künstlers im sogenannten Nyamnezi-Stil mit Einflüssen Giacomettis und traditioneller Ahnenfiguren der Makonde / Tansania. Dastani gilt als bedeutender Erneuerer der Makondekunst. Werke des Künstlers wurden unter anderem in Paris im Musée National des Arts d'Afrique et d'Océanie ausgestellt. H. 46 cm.
