Provenance: John B. Hightower (1933-2013). Mr. Hightower was Executive Director of the New York State Arts Council from 1964-70. He also served as Director of the Museum of Modern Art was President of the South Street Seaport Museum and was Director of the Norwalk Maritime Center.

Many thanks to David Hockney for confirming that this work is by his hand. It served as the poster for the exhibition Hockney and Water at the Norwalk Maritime Center in 1989 and is accompanied by a framed copy of the exhibition poster (11 1/2 x 17 in.).
Condition Report: As-is with areas of flaking and lost paint primarily concentrated between the shadows "W" and "A" in the water with a few losses along edge.
