DAX - Ceramic Polar Bear signed on the terrace

Beautiful work for this model representing a polar bear, walking on the ice floe, in ceramic of pure Art Deco style and signed "DAX" on the base. This model is available in several colour variants, this one in a colour between beige and 'milk chocolate'. Firing gave a result more pitted and glazed than crackled, making each version different. Produced by the Orchies earthenware factory, the model is hand-painted before firing and its design is attributed according to some sources to "Edouard Cazaux", whose pseudonym ( DAX) appears on the base, on the back of the last paw of the bear. An animal sculpture which has a truly beautiful decorative effect and which is becoming more and more popular with collectors. In excellent condition with very slight signs of ageing and firing defects, no chips or cracks.
