The Delage brand was founded in 1905 by Louis Delage in Levallois Perret, about 150 km from Paris. For around half a century, the company focused on the production of luxury cars and competition cars, airplanes and, in very limited numbers, motorcycles, which were produced at the Clichy plant and marketed under the brand name Claude Delage. These were motorized bicycles equipped with four-stroke engines with different capacities, although the majority had 175 cc ones. Given the times and the crucial need for reliable powertrains and acceptable fuel consumption levels, this solution was considered the best compromise. This motorcycle offered for sale is a very rare 175 cc racing version with a novel two-stroke engine and lateral carburetor. It has recently been carefully restored and is fully functional.
