Gee, 1929. Large 4to (12 3/4 x 9 5/8 in., uncut). 68 engraved plates, 3 charts; some light marginal browning. Full red morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, spine gilt in six compartments, covers with gilt borders, upper cover gilt lettered, top edges gilt; some rubbing and darkening to spine and edges. Quarter morocco gilt clamshell case. One of 200 copies of "Connett's first major work in fine book production. It was contracted through Ernest Gee and Mr. Woodward spared no expense" (Siegal). Presentation copy, inscribed by Woodward on an initial blank, "To my friend Mr. Wickham Hoffman with best regards, William Woodward." Frazier V-4-a; Podeschi 373; Siegal 22 (cf. also p. 234).
