DESIREABLE SOLID FRAME MODEL 55 WINCHESTER RIFLE.

Cal. 30 WCF. S# 1083409. About 20,000 of these rifles were produced, solid frame is seldom seen. This good example has 24-1/4" tapered round barrel and is fitted with "U" notch rear sight. Brass bead front sight is in integral ramp. Left rear of barrel is marked "MODEL 55-WINCHESTER-NICKEL STEEL- 30 W.C.F.-" over "TRADE MARK". Action is standard 94 type. Walnut stocks have serrated steel buttplate and steel cap to forend with button magazine. CONDITION: very fine. Barrel and action retaining 70-80% original blue; most loss is on action with considerable silvering and wear on high edges which also show some flaking and light pin prick rusting. Link is near completely flaked to gray brown. Blue on lever is good. Stocks retain nearly all of their original finish with many marks and dings. Bore is very fine; sharp and shiny.
