Baseball autographed by Hall of Fame Detroit Tiger, MVP, and Triple Crown winner Ty Cobb. Signed in black ink and very clear. Stated to be from the Ken Smith Collection or handled by him in the included COA from Barry Halper. Barry Halper was a famous baseball memorabilia collector. In 2010, Halper's expertise was called into question when Hall of Fame spokesman, Brad Horn, told the New York Post the jersey donated by Halper worn by Shoeless Joe Jackson was a fake. Following reports alleged that certain items in Halper's collection were stolen from the Baseball Hall of Fame, the New York Public Library, or other institutions. Most accusations were made by Peter Nash compiled in an article written for the New York Post in July 2011. Peter Nash admitted to defrauding an auction house and the New York Post has since removed the article of allegations against Halper.
