Folding knife with mother-of-pearl handle, over all length 5 1/2 in. (141 mm), blade 2 1/2 in. (64 mm), hallmarked Sheffield 1819. Red morocco solander box by Sangorski & Sutcliffe; rubbed, front cover detached.
A fine relic of the inimitable English author, evidently an anniversary or birthday gift from his wife, Catherine Thomson "Kate" Dickens.
