This sword is featured as plate 141.SS on page 350 of George Neumann's "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution". Neumann's sticker with his handwritten information is still present on the front of the top scabbard mount. Slightly curved Spanish-style blade with three narrow fullers on top on both sides. Brass D-guard with 5 piercings. Knucklebow attaches to small half-ovoid pommel. Cherry grip decorated with twisted brass wire accent. Complete with its original decorated black leather scabbard with brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade mostly bright with some darker areas and areas of pitting. Hilt retains a pleasing mustard patina, knucklebow has been reshaped since book was published, as it was bent. Grip very good with some minor age cracks. Scabbard shows dark mustard patina on mounts. leather shows crazing and flaking, but is very stable and still flexible. PROVENANCE: Ex. George C.
