A very ancient “Dege” statuette associated with ancestor worship, depicting a standing male figure; his feet blend into the base of the pedestal, and his stocky body exudes a sense of the vital force “Nyama” that exists within every Dogon. Early 20th century. H. 25 cm. (slight wear).
