DU PONT DYNAMITE BLASTING MACHINE No. 2

Early coal mining dynamite blasting plunger. Has metal plate on the front which reads "Manufactured by E. I. DU PONT MEMOURS POWDER CO. DU PONT ESTABLISHED 1802 WILMINGTON, DELAWARE, U.S.A." Top plate reads "DU PONT BLASTING MACHINE NO. 2. WILL FIRE 1 TO 10 FUZES. -TO FIRE - DRAW THE HANDLE UP UNTIL IT STOPS, THEN PUSH DOWN QUICKLY WITH FULL FORCE." Marked "S 41" below handle. Functions properly and has original wing nuts for connecting wires to fuses. Measures approximately 9.75" tall, 5.5" across, and 7.25" from front to back. Plunger and handle are an additional 8.8" when fully extended. Wooden case shows age and wear, especially at the corners. Leather strap is intact but somewhat dried and cracked. Very Good
