[DUNNINGER’S GHOST WRITER] Lustig, David. Large Archive of David Lustig Scrapbooks, Scripts and Memorabilia. Including four scrapbooks kept by Lustig containing clippings, notes, typescripts, methods for various feats of mentalism, and ideas generated by Lustig for Dunninger and others. Among the memorabilia included are collections of Lustig’s own columns for various publications, hundreds of pages describing his methods for a host of mentalism feats (slate writing, question and answer acts, Lulu Hearst-type routines, routines proposed for Maurice Fogel, a complete mental routine for night club settings (running to twenty pages or more), handbills for stage plays directed by Lustig, photographs, postcards, and more. Sold together with two display albums containing over 100 pages of typescripts for Dunninger’s Kem-Tone shows, gags for radio shows, as well as Brainbusters and Puzzlers devised by Lustig, both typewritten and handwritten. A fascinating and important archive related to the history of mentalism and one of its greatest practitioners, and the “idea man” who helped create much of the Dunninger legend and character.
