DUTCH COLONIAL, INDONESIA, 17TH/ 18TH CENTURY
Casket

engraved tortoiseshell, with silver mounts, the interior lined with velvet
13 by 19cm., 5⅛ by 7½in.

Condition Report:
Overall the condition of the box is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are some restored breaks or separately carved sections to the tortoiseshell, especially around the mounts. There are minor stable splits to the tortoiseshell in areas consistent with the material. There are a few small filled lacunae to the underside. Dirt to the tortoiseshell which gives it a dull appearance. There is minor oxidation and polish residues to the mounts.
