Provenance: Private property, Switzerland.

The offered portrait is a high-quality copy, possibly even a workshop piece based on Antonis van Dyck's "Portrait of Margaret, Lady Tufton" (Barnes/De Poorter/Millar/Vey 2004, no. IV.A36). The sitter was the granddaughter of Baron Edward Wotton, a diplomat at the court of Queen Elizabeth I. Van Dyck's painting is now kept in the collection of the Milwaukee Art Museum. There are other copies in private possession in England, at the Tredegar House in South Wales, and in the Royal Collection.

Beim angebotenen Bildnis handelt es sich um eine hochwertige Kopie, möglicherweise sogar um eine Werkstatt-Arbeit nach Antonis van Dycks "Portrait of Margaret, Lady Tufton" (Barnes/De Poorter/Millar/Vey 2004, Nr. IV.A36). Die Dargestellte war die Enkelin von Baron Edward Wotton, eines Diplomaten am Hof von Königin Elisabeth I. Van Dycks Bildvorlage wird heute in der Sammlung des Milwaukee Art Museum aufbewahrt. Weitere Kopien befinden sich in englischem Privatbesitz, im Tredegar House in South Wales und in der Royal Collection.
