Daguerreotype by John Werge
Half plate Daguerreotype by John Werge in red, moroccan leather case with red velvet interior. The mat is stamped "J.Werge" and "Monteith Rooms, Glasgow". Werge was the owner/ manager of the Monteith Rooms in 1855 after, previously working for Jabez Hughes. The Monteith rooms were damaged by fire and a lot of Werge's work was lost. Oxidation to edges of the image and some spots on the plate. Mat has corrosion spots.
