Daimler - Double six V12 5.3- 1974

[ translate ]

The Daimler is an original English car. The Daimler dates from 1974 and so this is the Series 2 with the beautiful chrome bumpers and a V12 in combination with automatic transmission. The car stayed in England until 1990. After 1990 the Daimler went to a friend of the Englishman in Sweden. The car was repainted in the 1980s. This silver lacquer looks great with the chrome and the black Everflex vinyl top. The paintwork is the only thing that is no longer original on this Daimler. The interior has a walnut dashboard and a beautiful Connolly leather interior. Double mats have been used in the car so the original mats have remained beautiful. The car ran 45000 miles in England and 35000 km in Sweden. The car has always been stored warm indoors and has only been used outside on the beautiful summer days. So it’s not rotten as many others are. Everything on the car works, really everything. Only 3,767 were produced of which 1,925 with the steering wheel at the right side. Only the details make a Daimler differ from a Jaguar XJ V12, such as the ribbed top of the grille and the tailgate handle. At that time, a Daimler was also more expensive than a Jaguar with the same engine. In 1968 Jaguar started the XJ series, and from 1972 it was given the V12 engine. That year it was also the fastest four-door car in the world. The car first received a carburettor and reached a top speed of 225km/h with 250HP. From 0-100km/h is accomplished in 7. 9 seconds. In 1975 the carburettor was replaced by the injection, this makes this Daimler - apart from being a Series 2 - even more of a collector’s item. The Daimler was named double six after an earlier Daimler V12 car from the 20s. The car drives very well and the engine is very quiet (like new) , it puts the Rolls-Royce and Bentley of that same period to shame. The Daimler has an original sunroof, this option is very rare and never been seen before on such car. The car can be viewed and picked up in Hoevelaken, the Netherlands.
