Daimler - XJC6 - 1977

[ translate ]

Very rare Daimler XJC Sovereign, original left-hand drive! This LHD Coupé is 1 of the 111 ever built of this edition in the period 12-1974 to 10-1977. This is number 78 based on the chassis number. The XJC was delivered new at the time in Belgium and it was imported to the Netherlands in 1993. It currently has a Dutch registration, so it can be exported. The Daimler has recently been sprayed in the colour dark blue. Which makes for a very nice combination together with the beige leather interior. The interior is in very neat condition. The woodwork of the dashboard has some craquelure. The Daimler has a later, better quality, XJ6 Series 3 engine. The Coupé currently runs on LPG, the petrol system is still available. The right fuel tank has been removed. The LPG filling point is located under the original fuel cap at the right side. The 70 litre tank is from the brand called Stako. For winters, a Webasto heater has been mounted. The engine runs nicely, the Daimler drives well, but is has been standing still for 8 years now and definitely requires maintenance. It has been said that the engine could have been overhauled about 70,000 km ago. This, however, cannot be verified. Fitted with the original chrome-plated steel wheels. The chrome is in neat condition. This concerns an unfinished restoration, as depicted. The XJC is about 98% complete. What is missing are 2 C-pillar upholstery panels, the correct windshield rubber, the vinyl top, and 1 sun visor clip. The original and rare chrome strips for the windows and the vinyl top are available. The windshield is mint and has not been mounted. New window joints included. Also included are 2 new stainless steel mufflers. The bottom has 4 spots that still need to be welded, see pictures for more details. It is best to replace the headlining which is no longer neat and has a sliding roof recess. This has been closed inside the car. To finish the Daimler a new vinyl top needs to be glued (or sprayed) , the windows and mufflers need to be mounted and the welding needs to be done. It is recommended to view the car prior to placing a bid in order to prevent disappointment. Please contact Catawiki to schedule an appointment. Viewing possible in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.
