Dallmeyer 5 D "Soft Focus", c. 1867
J.H. Dallmeyer, London. No. 13960, focal length 5.4/45 cm, for Waterhouse stops; height with lens hood 19 cm; front lens glass diameter 8.3 cm; a small chip (approx. 1 mm wide and 10 mm long) on the extreme edge of the front lens, negligible regarding practical use and aperture speed (likely present from the start); unscrewable rear element with a smooth soft-focus adjustment mechanism; glass good under point light; lens hood has a slight dent; includes original mounting ring. – A distinctive feature is the rotatable rear lens element, which increases spherical aberration to create a "soft focus" effect. – A sought-after portrait lens.

Dallmeyer 5 D "Soft Focus", um 1867
J.H. Dallmeyer, London. – Gesuchtes Portraitobjektiv.
