Fragment, from the Aegean suite, 1971, proof edition of 30, published by Marlborough Fine Art, London, printed by Curwen Press and Studios, London/Cambridgeshire. Signed "Barbara Hepworth" in pencil l.l., numbered "x3/30" in pencil l.l., printer's dry stamp l.l. Color lithograph with embossing on paper, image size 30 1/2 x 20 in. (77.4 x 50.7 cm), framed.
Condition: Full sheet with deckled edges, floated within the frame, not examined out of frame.

Provenance: Purchased from American & European Paintings & Prints, Skinner, Inc., Boston, February 3, 2012, sale 2581B, lot 68.
Estimate $700-900

Out of the frame the sheet is a wove paper with an "RH" watermark, and measures 32 x 23 1/8 in. There is an uneven crease to the center of the image running through the central white elements and down to the left into the background. There is also an exceedingly soft crease parallel to the left edge about 1/2 inches in from the edge and running the full length of the sheet. On the verso there are three thinned spots (presumably where old hinges were removed, u.c. and near both lower corners.
