Dan Fetish Mask, Ivory Coast, Poro Society, c. late 19th century, hollowed-out oval form, pierced around the rim, the mask with thin walls, the full protruding lips parted with central hole, the flat nose framed by narrow slit eyes, with numerous piercings on the face, and gently sloped forehead, the crown with a metal staple, mounted on base, lg. 8 3/4, wd. 5 1/4 in.
