Security Engraving History. India Paper Proof Impressions, backed on card. Each printed panel approximately 16x x 19 inches, on slightly larger cards. All have been joined together, Total dimensions of combined four panels 31" x 37". Total framed size 38" x 43"

A superb display of the banknote engraver's craft, loaded with intricate vignettes of widely varying themes, all arranged in an ornate design of gothic style framing around a large central urn. We are aware of only two other examples of this sheet. The sheet is heavily toned, but appears overall damage free save for some restoration at top right. An outstanding artifact of 19th bank note engravers' art, from one of the leading firms prior to the foundation of American Bank Note Company in 1858.Due to its nature and size, this lot will be available for viewing in our California office only, and the winning bidder will pay actual shipping cost.
