Daniel Richter is one of the leading German artists of his generation, whose artistic practice has transformed remarkably over time to accommodate significant stylistic evolution. One of the abstract work from his formative years, Our lives are ruled by multideath corporations (1999) features Richter's signature use of vivid chromatic contrasts and expressive brushstrokes. With his experience working as an assistant to Albert Oehlen and a passion for music, the artist looks to the radical history of abstraction, filling the composition with an abundance of visual elements but elevated to an acute contemporary zeitgeist. The myriad play of texture, electrified lines, richness of colour and illusion of light constitutes a magnetic vibrancy in his abstraction.
