D'après Marie Amelie d'Orléans - Sculpture, Jeanne D'Arc (1) - Iron (cast) - Late 19th century

[ translate ]

Bronze sculpture after Marie Amélie d'Orléans. Representing Joan of Arc in armour with her helmet beside her, she holds her sword like a cross, 35 cm high, in solid cast iron, very imposing with a dark brown patina, signed MO on the back, see photo. Marie d'Orléans (1813-1839) was the third of ten children of Louis-Philippe and Marie Amélie de Bourbon-Sicile. She had an original destiny: very quickly she showed gifts as an artist, was the student of Ary Scheffer and, in sculpture, of David, her sculptures remain rare in public sale.
