Darya Semenova (1958) - Le songe
\Artist: Darya Semenova (1958)
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Hand signed
Canvas is in good condition. Including frame, minor damage to the frame. Semenova, the daughter of the detective fiction writer, Yulian Semenov, was born in Moscow where she continues to live and work. Her 1982 portrait of her sister Olga won a silver medal at an exhibition of contemporary Russian and Soviet art in Paris. It was later acquired by the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. Her female nudes and portraits from this late Soviet period suggest the influence of Klimt in their use of richly patterned backgrounds. There is not a huge amount of publicly available data for the sale of Semenova's early work outside Russia.
