David Pryor Adickes (American, b. 1927) Harlequins Against Blue Oil on panel 48 x 24 inches (121.9 x 61.0 cm) Signed lower right: Adickes PROVENANCE: Dubose Gallery, Houston; Acquired by the present owner from the above. David Adickes graduated with a degree in physics from Sam Houston College in Huntsville, Texas. He then attended the Kansas City Art Institute. Adickes subsequently moved to Paris, France to study two years with Ferdinand Leger. Upon returning to Houston he had five one-man exhibitions, including his first at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. From that time forward, Adickes always maintained Houston as his "home base," but traveled, painted, and exhibited widely across Europe.
