First trade edition of Davis Grubb's "The Night of the Hunter" is illustrated by the author on the flyleaf, captioned "Preacher with John and Pearl," with a dedication reading "For Harold Forbes from Davis Grubb, Greenbrier, W. VA, November 1977." Bookplate reads "From the books of Harold Malcolm Forbes, Morgantown, West Virginia." Outside the edition of 1,000 copies signed on the limitation page. Lot is accompanied by the certificate issued by Bauman Rare Books, New York & Philadelphia and the purchase receipt issued by same, dated 12.19.2007.
