Davrian - MK5 - 1971

[ translate ]

Davrian Mk5, GTP, 1971. Davrian is a small English car manufacturer which worked from 1965 until the early 1980s, only to become today’s Darrian which still produces this type of sports cars. Based on the mechanics of the quiet Hillman Imp, derived from the Coventry Climax engine, whose suspension, engine block and transmission were used, the Davrian featured a fibreglass monocoque with an aluminium tubular front and rear frame to support the engine (in a central position) , the rear axle and the front axle. The car for sale is a 1971 Mk5, which raced in England, mainly on the track. Arrived in Italy in 2009, this example of Mk5 was completely restored thanks to the experience of two preparers from Modena, Manfredini and Giuliani. They further improved the performance of the small English coupé with extremely refined solutions: the Hillman 998 engine now produces 118 HP thanks to the Weber 40 DCOE double carburettors and the specially-made light alloy silencer. Both the chassis and the roll cage were reinforced, the hubs for the Hillman gearbox were built from scratch with Hewland gears, and a Girling four-disc braking system was mounted. The fibreglass body was deliberately preserved to respect the originality of the car, and professionally restored/repainted. Once the preparation was complete, the car was used in 2016 for a few track races in the Campionato Italiano Autostoriche, demonstrating its full potential (Class victory) . The car has a currently valid national HTP FIA to race in the Second Group, G2 period, GTP1000 Class. There are many documents and photos of the time during the races with results, and a copy signed by the author of the book with the history of the Davrian brand. Approved equipment, many spare parts included, with also different sets of rims and tyres for dry/wet conditions, and even a complete spare engine and gearbox. The car is ready to race and is accepted on the track and uphill in many foreign championships, such as the Histo Cup. Much rarer than a Lotus and with restoration/preparation cost over €50,000. This is a unique opportunity for any enthusiast to own an exclusive and very rare item, extremely fun to drive too. Racing car only with HTP FIA, not registered for free road circulation. The car can be viewed and picked up in the area of Linate, Milan, by appointment with Catawiki.
