The map that shows the extent of Louis XIV's empire in America, only to be lost by his successor, Louis XV in the 1763 treaty of Paris. First Issue, proior to the location of New Orleans. The first map to reveal the significance of the Missouri River; the first to provide an accurate delineation of the Mississippi Valley; and La Salle, and the first to use the place name Texas ("Mission de los Teijas, 1716").
