Specialized in the landscape, the marine and the still life, De Soto traveled for years by Spain with a roulotte, which he used as study and place of exhibition of his work. He made his individual debut in Barcelona in 1944, and the following year he was awarded a prize at the Montjuic Spring Exhibition. His pictorial conception oscillates between photographic realism and surrealist symbolism. He participated in several group exhibitions, as well as in artistic contests and competitions held in Barcelona and other Catalan cities.
