Bulletin of the University of Texas, No. 51, January 15, 1905. Humanistic Series No. 3. The DeWitt Colony (ca. 1820s through the 1840s) was a settlement in Mexican Texas founded by Green DeWitt. From lands belonging to that colony, the present Texas counties of DeWitt, Guadalupe and Lavaca were created. The hub of the colony was primarily located, however, in what is now Gonzales County. Scarce with all maps present.
