attributed to Thomas Chandler, likely made at Kirksey's Crossroads, Edgefield District, South Carolina, circa 1850's, runny brownish tan alkaline glaze, runny kaolin swag decoration to shoulder, impressed "V" at base edge, two applied lug handles to shoulder, flared rim, 17-1/4 in. - Provenance: Collection of Dr. Joseph T. and Gaile E. Condition Report: glaze voids and anomalies as made, 2 in. hairline on rim into mouth, two 1 in. chips to one handle, 13 in. hairline crack up from base of jar to under handle, 3 in. onto base, glaze crackle, 20 in. glaze hairline around half the jar, 1-1/4 chip to base edge, other wear, remnants of old paint to glaze,ÿ
